Meet the team
Tom Kroos - Principal Ecologist & Director of Fish and Wildlife Services. Having completed a BSc Biology and Scientific Land Management, Tom went on to work for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Cold Water Research, New Zealand Wildlife Service, Department of Conservation, Fish and Game New Zealand before establishing Fish & Wildlife Services Ltd in 2004.
Tom is electric fishing certified as well as first aid certified.
Ricky Olley- BSc, MSc- Field Ecologist.
Ricky has an MSc in ecology and has worked as a ecologist locally around Nelson for 10 years. He has a vast knowledge of flora and fauna. He is Electric fishing certified.
Tim Olley - BSc- Environmental technician.
Tim has accumulated a great working knowledge of river systems in New Zealand and native freshwater species. He is electric fishing certified and is fully trained in confined space and gas detection. He is also fish and wildlife services health and safety coordinator.
Lena Olley - BSc, MSc- Ornithologist.
Lena has worked with a variety of species in both the UK and New Zealand, ranging from bats and falcons to fish. Her MSc studying the population structure of the New Zealand falcon led her on to work for one of Europes leading falcon breeders. She has also worked for Exeter University and Stirling university in the U.K researching native bat species.
Liam Bancroft - BSc, Cert. in Ecol consultancy- Zoologist.
Having completed an internship at a Wildlife consultancy in South Wales, Liam then moved to Devon to complete training in Ecological consultancy. He also worked as a contract ecologist and as a conservation officer for a local reserve. He has recently moved to New Zealand to continue in the ecology field and is confined space & gas detection trained.
